There was an exhibition of famous pictorialists there and I had the opportunity to see Drtikol&#039;s work in Sudek&#039;s studio. A pleasant connection. The elderly lady at the entrance was very helpful and we had a nice chat. The entrance fee was only 20 crowns, so symbolic. We had an interesting discussion about which famous window with a still life was that. <img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-776\" src=\"http:\/\/jankratochvil.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Sudek-atelier-WINDOW-collage-small-1024x819.jpg\" alt=\"Sudek-atelier-WINDOW-collage-small\" width=\"1024\" height=\"819\" \/> The studio is small, which makes it feel cozy. You can walk around in a minute or two, but I spent about an hour here and still didn&#039;t want to leave. <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-774\" src=\"http:\/\/jankratochvil.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/atelier-panorama-2-1024x435.jpg\" alt=\"atelier-panorama-2\" width=\"1024\" height=\"435\" \/> <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-779\" src=\"http:\/\/jankratochvil.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Sudek-atelier-interier-1024x819.jpg\" alt=\"Sudek-atelier-interier\" width=\"1024\" height=\"819\" \/> Probably the preserved remains of the original studio. Its glass part offers a beautiful view of the courtyard. <a href=\"http:\/\/jankratochvil.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/atelier-outside.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-783 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/jankratochvil.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/atelier-outside-1024x461.jpg\" alt=\"Atelier Josef Sudek outside\" width=\"1024\" height=\"461\" \/><\/a> If you visit this place in spring or during the summer, the views out into the courtyard are impressively green. The wooden studio is impressively set in this place. As I was surprised to learn earlier, the current studio building is a faithful copy of it. Josef Sudek lived and worked here from 1927 to 1959. The original building has not survived because it was destroyed by fire in 1985. Since 2000, a replica of the house has been copying the original wooden structure. Much has been written about Josef Sudek himself and his work. He certainly has something to tell his colleagues in photography heaven! What a pleasant connection.<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong>An older lady at the entrance was very helpful and friendly, we had a nice conversation. Admission charge was only about 20 CZK (circa 1 USD) \u2013 symbolic price.<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong>Later we had a debate about Sudek&#039;s well-known still life photographs composed through his atelier window.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-776\" src=\"http:\/\/jankratochvil.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Sudek-atelier-WINDOW-collage-small-1024x819.jpg\" alt=\"Sudek-atelier-WINDOW-collage-small\" width=\"1024\" height=\"819\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The atelier is nicely small, thereby it acts cozy. You can pass through the room within a minute or two, but I spent about an hour there and I still did not want to leave that space.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-774\" src=\"http:\/\/jankratochvil.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/atelier-panorama-2-1024x435.jpg\" alt=\"atelier-panorama-2\" width=\"1024\" height=\"435\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The glazed atelier window offers a beautiful view in the courtyard. If you visit this place in spring or summer, the view in some parts of the courtyard is impressively green. This wooden little house fits nicely in this place.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-779\" src=\"http:\/\/jankratochvil.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Sudek-atelier-interier-1024x819.jpg\" alt=\"Sudek-atelier-interier\" width=\"1024\" height=\"819\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As I have found out previously with surprise \u2013 the current small house is a true copy. Josef Sudek lived and worked here in that original house in the years 1927 \u2013 1959.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the original building was not preserved, because in 1985 it was destroyed by fire.
