In May 2011 I attended a workshop
\nin the National Museum of Photography in Jind\u0159ich\u016fv Hradec. The museum is now called Museum of Photography and Modern Visual Media<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The topics of the practical workshop were Oil painting
\nand Bromeliad. It was my first introduction to historical photographic techniques.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The reason for my participation was that I had been interested in earlier works from the history of photography for a long time, and oil printing was one of them. Among other photographic processes, oil printing was also used to create pictorialists<\/a>.<\/p>\n

You can find successful and well-preserved oil prints in various galleries and learn more about this process, for example, at Wikipedia<\/a> .
\nBromolej is essentially identical to oil printing. The difference is in the paper used - the basis for bromolej is silver bromide paper. With oil printing, you need to make your own gelatin paper, which is why it is more difficult to prepare.
\nGelatin papers for oil printing, which are not exactly easy to make for a beginner, can also be purchased from specialized sellers of accessories for historical photographic techniques.
\nThe workshop was led by an experienced practitioner Rasto Chambal<\/a> \u00a0and the weekend workshop took place in the beautiful premises of the National Museum of Photography in Jind\u0159ich\u016fv Hradec.
\nI had the opportunity to meet interesting people here, including Michaela Posp\u00ed\u0161ilov\u00e1 and the well-known fashion photographer Lucia Robinson<\/a>.
\nMichaela led the workshop together with Rast\u011b \u2013 her specialization is Bromeliad.<\/p>\n

Both oil and bromide are worth trying. Only by practicing and gaining your own experience will you achieve very high-quality results - this applies in general. If you want to achieve consistent results, you cannot rely on chance and work in a trial-and-error style. Of course, you can also try it this way, but the path is usually much more demanding, in terms of time, physically and often mentally - failure can discourage you. An important factor in trial-and-error work is financial. If you do not count your time, you need to take into account the investments made in the materials you create from.<\/p>\n
