Another imaginary \u201cfulfillment of duty\u201d was my wish to see the works of Mr. <strong>Frani Drtikola<\/strong> in natura. While browsing through the exhibition offers, I came across an exhibition of this model by many photographers. The choice was immediately clear. The exhibition was placed in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.upm.cz\/\" target=\"_blank\">Museum of Applied Arts<\/a> and was held on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the birth of Franti\u0161ek Drtikol. It is dedicated to Josef Richard Marek, the author of Drtikol&#039;s first monograph. <strong>October 9, 2013 was my first day with Mr. Drtikol.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/jankratochvil.com\/en\/?p=835\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-823\" style=\"line-height: 1.5;\" src=\"http:\/\/jankratochvil.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/IMG_1016-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Um\u011bleckopr\u016fmyslov\u00e9 muzeum Praha\" width=\"425\" height=\"567\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><a href=\"http:\/\/jankratochvil.com\/en\/?p=835\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-824\" src=\"http:\/\/jankratochvil.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/IMG_1017-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Drtikol plak\u00e1t v\u00fdstavy\" width=\"425\" height=\"567\" \/><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>As I read, the exhibited working studies and variations were not intended for public presentation at the time. This made me even more interested in visiting the exhibition. <a href=\"http:\/\/jankratochvil.com\/en\/?p=835\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-827\" src=\"http:\/\/jankratochvil.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/IMG_1036-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Schody v Um\u011bleckopr\u016fmyslov\u00e9m muzeu \/ Stairs in the museum\" width=\"731\" height=\"975\" \/><\/a> Building <a href=\"http:\/\/www.upm.cz\/\" target=\"_blank\">Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague<\/a> It is a beautiful building. The interior is perfect for exhibitions of this type. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/jankratochvil.com\/en\/?p=835\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-825\" src=\"http:\/\/jankratochvil.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/IMG_1023-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Drtikol - Du\u0161e \/ Spirit\" width=\"318\" height=\"424\" \/> <\/a><sub>Soul 1931 \u2013 silver bromide contact photography<\/sub>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<table style=\"height: 443px;\" width=\"712\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-826\" src=\"http:\/\/jankratochvil.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/IMG_1033-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Drtikolovy cit\u00e1ty \/ Drtikol's quotations\" width=\"311\" height=\"415\" \/><sub>Drtikol&#039;s quotes<\/sub><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>The exhibition was also accompanied by an audiovisual program, which included a short documentary about Drtikol&#039;s life. It is interesting that Drtikol&#039;s work was created during the financial crisis, when his studio was not very prosperous. Moreover, certain works that Fr\u00e1\u0148 created at that time, he did with the knowledge that he would not profit from them. Such works should be valued all the more. I was thrilled with the exhibition and the occasional interruption by a group of young tourists, for whom the visit was probably a little uninteresting, did not change that. Perhaps the mandatory &quot;school&quot; exhibition discouraged them from concentrating more on the presented objects. The quality of Fr\u00e1\u0148&#039;s work was underappreciated in his time, but this is unfortunately the case with some artists only after their physical existence. During my searching for exhibitions I came to the exhibition of a Czech master who is a role model for many photographers. The choice was therefore immediately clear for me. The exposition was placed in the Museum of Decorative Arts, held on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the Mr. Drtikol&#039;s birth. In addition, certain works which at that time Fr\u00e1\u0148a formed, were made with the understanding that it does not bring any financial benefit. Therefore it is important to appreciate such works.<\/p>\n<p>I was excited and nothing changed on it an occasional interference of young tourists, for which it was probably a bit boring.
