{"id":655,"date":"2013-07-30T08:12:54","date_gmt":"2013-07-30T08:12:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jankratochvil.com\/?p=655"},"modified":"2021-09-05T06:50:39","modified_gmt":"2021-09-05T06:50:39","slug":"wet-plate-collodion-negative-workshop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jankratochvil.com\/en\/wet-plate-collodion-negative-workshop\/","title":{"rendered":"Wet Plate Collodion Negative Workshop"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>After about a year and a half of working with collodion positives, I wanted to move on \u2013 to work with my own negatives.<\/h3>\n<p>The advantage of a negative, as most of us probably know, is the possibility of its reuse.<br \/>\nA film negative is used in a darkroom to produce photographs on photographic paper or other light-sensitive materials. The same is true for a collodion negative.<br \/>\nThe use is similar, with the only difference being that the glass negative is mostly used for so-called 1:1 contact printing, see <a href=\"https:\/\/cs.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kontaktn%C3%AD_otisk\">Wikipedia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One of my milestones in learning about the negative collodion process was meeting a professional Slovenian photographer named Borut Peterlin. His official website is <a href=\"http:\/\/borutpeterlin.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">borutpeterlin.com<\/a>, but he is much more active on his <a href=\"https:\/\/borutpeterlin.wordpress.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blog<\/a>, who has been writing for about ten years.<br \/>\nBorut studied photography at FAMU in Prague, and thanks to that, we are much closer to each other as &quot;foreigners&quot;.<\/p>\n<p>Last summer I went to Slovenia to take a private workshop on making collodion negatives with Borut.<br \/>\nBorut, who personally participated in several workshops in the USA in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eastmanhouse.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">George Eastman House<\/a>\u00a0in Rochester is one of the most passionate professional photographers in Europe that I have ever met. Photography is his life.
