Návštěva Prahy pro mne často znamená vyšetřit si čas na zajímavou výstavu. Dalším pomyslným “splněním povinnosti” bylo moje přání vidět díla pana Fráni Drtikola in natura. Procházením nabídek výstav jsem narazil na výstavu tohoto vzoru mnoha fotografů. Volba byla tedy okamžitě jasná. Expozice byla umístěna v Uměleckoprůmyslovém muzeu a konala se u příležitosti 130. výročí narození Františka Drtikola. Je věnována Josefu Richardu Markovi, autorovi první Drtikolovy monografie. 9. říjen 2013 byl můj první den s panem Drtikolem.

Jak jsem se dočetl, tak vystavované pracovní studie a variace ve své době nebyly určeny k veřejnému prezentování. O to více byl můj zájem výstavu navštívit větší. 
Budova Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague je krásná stavba. Interiér je pro výstavy tohoto typu přímo stvořen.

Výstavu provázel také audiovizuální program, jehož součástí byl i krátký dokument o Drtikolově životě. Není bez zajímavosti, že Drtikolova tvorba vznikala za doby finanční krize, kdy jeho studio příliš neprosperovalo. Navíc určitá díla, která v tu dobu Fráňa tvořil, dělal s vědomím, že z něj nebude profitovat. O to víc je třeba si takových děl cenit. Výstavou jsem byl nadšen a nic na tom nezměnilo i občasné rušení skupiny mladých turistů, pro které byla návštěva asi trošku nezajímavá. Spíše snad povinná „školní“ výstava je trošku odradila se více koncentrovat na prezentované předměty. Kvalita Fráňovy tvorby byla v jeho době nedoceněna, ale tak tomu u části umělců bývá bohužel až po jejich fyzické existenci. Je na lidech, aby udrželi a připomínali jejich odkaz v paměti příštích generací, ze kterých můžeme autorovu tvorbu studovat a brát ji jako inspirační impuls pro vlastní tvorbu. — ENGLISH VERSION —
To visit Prague means for often to find some spare time for an interesting exhibition.
One of my next „fulfillment of obligations“ was my desire to see in natura the works of Mr. Frana Drtikol. During my searching for exhibitions I came to the exhibition of a Czech master who is a role model for many photographers. The choice was therefore immediately clear for me. The exposition was placed in the Museum of Decorative Arts, held on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the Mr. Drtikol’s birth. The exposition is dedicated to Josef Richard Mark, author of the first Drtikol’s monography.

As I have read the exhibited work and study variations in “Drtikol’s” time were not intended for the public presentation. Therefore I have been very interested to see them with my own eyes.
The building Museum of Decorative Arts is a beautiful house. The interior is well suited for such a event.

The exhibition was accompanied by audio-visual program, which included a short documentary about the life of Drtikol.
It is interesting that Drtikol’s art was created during the time of financial crisis, when his studio did not prosper. In addition, certain works which at that time Fráňa formed, was made with the understanding that it does not bring any financial benefit. Therefore it is important to appreciate such works.
I was excited and nothing changed on it an occasional interference of young tourists, for which it was probably a bit boring. Perhaps an obligation of that young people a little discouraged them to be more focused on the true content.
The quality of Drtikol’s work was unappreciated in his time period, but this is nothing unsual by artists.
It is dependent on people to keep and remind their messages in the memory for future generations, from which we can study artists work and take it as an inspirational impulse for our own work.
