JOSEF KOUDELKA RUINS
Text quote from the website Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague v Praze:
The photographs of Josef Koudelka's latest collection were created over a long period, as is typical for the author.
He took them between 1991 and 2017 at more than two hundred archaeological sites in the Mediterranean, including Albania, Algeria, Bulgaria, Egypt, France, Croatia, Italy, Israel, Jordan, Cyprus, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Portugal, Greece, Slovenia, Syria, Spain, Tunisia, and Turkey.
Before they acquired their definitive form in the 2020 exhibition in Paris and in the book Ruins, they were presented at an exhibition in Marseille and also in several displays at the extensive retrospective Returns organized at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague in 2017. And just as with this retrospective, the photographs from the Ruins project became part of a generous gift that the author in recent years dedicated to the Museum of Decorative Arts, already over two and a half thousand photographs from his lifelong work.
"I visited the exhibition at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague in February 2025.
